WHH has several divisions with ribbons from 1st to 6th. These divisions are basically based on speed. An anonymous team will ride the pace either the morning of, or during, the pace to determine the optimum “ideal” time for the open division. Teams may be groups of 2 or 3.

Open - at the pace that a true hunt would be on the day, including times of walking, trotting and cantering/galloping as appropriate for terrain and weather. Not a full-out race, but a moving-on pace.
Novice – a slower pace than the open but still moving on.
Hilltopping – a Sunday trail ride, look at the leaves pace.

All divisions have optional jumping (though the pace time for open is charted over the jumps which tends to be the quickest way). Dress is casual (though boots, breeches and jackets are always appropriate!) BUT you must wear a helmet and shoes with heels (no sneakers!). Please bring a tailgate to share at our hunt tent!

Pace fees: Adult $45, Junior $30 (under 18) – NO pre-registration for our paces. Pairs/threesomes may go out from 9:30 to 12:30 pm. Competitors not ready by 9:30-12:30pm noon may/may not be allowed to ride and may/may not be counted for ribbons!!!

We have many prizes for our pace series:

Highpoint Division Winners — Spring & Fall:

Year end awards are given to those riders earning the most points in the Open, Novice and Hilltopping divisions competing in the WHH Spring and Fall Paces.  The open division winner will also have their name engraved on the Roland Stearns High Point Open Pace Trophy.

Battle of the Barns:

This competition is conducted just during our Spring WHH Paces.  You and your stablemates can win a free hunt this fall with a tailgate picnic if your barn accumulates the most points during our spring paces.  Every rider will earn a point for your barn just by riding in the pace.  Additional points are earned for those riders winning ribbons (7 points for 1st, 5 points for 2nd, 4 points for 3rd, 3 points for 4th, 2 points for 5th & 1 point for 6th).  You can ride in different divisions at different paces and your points will all count towards your barn standing.  Be sure to let us know what barn you are riding for on your entry, and good luck!

The Virginia Martin Memorial Hunter Pace Trophy Series:

WHH and Quiet Creek Stable are co-sponsoring this series for riders competing in at least 4 out of the 5 fall paces offered by WHH & Quiet Creek.  The trophy will be awarded to the pace team scoring the most points regardless of the division they ride in.  High point series winners of the Open, Novice & Hilltopping Divisions will also win gorgeous coolers for their horses.

Coolers & Trophy to be awarded at final pace in November 2011 at Quiet Creek Stable (formerly Borderland Farm)   Coolers compliments of Smith- Worthington Saddlery Co., saddle makers since 1794       www.smithworthington.com
